A Little About Me...

We are what we eat. The food we eat becomes our blood, bones, connective tissue, organs, thoughts and moods. We have an opportunity to create our future based on what we eat and how we care for ourselves and those around us.

My passion for health and healing began in 1995. My personal journey towards healing led me to help others achieve wellness through positive nutrition and lifestyle habits. Prior to starting my private practice, Intuition Nutrition, I worked as a non-profit public relations professional. In 2001, I became the head of communications for the American Red Cross 9-11 response effort in New York City. I worked 18-hour days for months on end and continued to support the recovery effort for three years.

After that first emotionally and physically draining year I began reassessing my own health and attempted to resolve my chronic food sensitivities and digestion problems. Previous consultations with medical doctors proved fruitless. In an effort to improve my wellbeing, I began studying holistic nutrition. I became trained in modern health counseling, eastern and western nutrition, and using nutrition as therapy.

Within weeks on an all-natural, whole foods diet, my health issues were alleviated and I found I had also lost weight, improved digestion, increased my energy and greatly improved my mood. Excited about my own fast progress and the potential to help others, I became committed to guiding people towards rediscovering their body's optimum health and vitality. I also became interested in the connection between stress and health, food and mood, and self-care and joy.

In Spring 2004, I was fortunate enough to marry my passions for travel and food as I traveled to several remote tribal villages in Tanzania, to interview tribal elders about traditional eating habits, community rituals, healing practices and medicinal foods and herbs. I was creating a food and nutrition curriculum for a wonderful non-profit organization called Aang Serian Peace Village. In this oral culture, most ancient practices are passed on only through storytelling and song. Through my work in Tanzania, I was able to learn about incredible holistic approaches to healing and capture some of the rapidly disappearing healing traditions of Africa.

Through my practice I love helping busy people learn how to balance healthful eating and self-care with others areas of life such as career, relationships, family, home life, relaxation practices and fun. I work with my clients to identify the optimum food for their unique lifestyle. Together we work on slowing down so they can successfully and joyfully achieve their goals in life and still maintain their health and the health of their families.

After becoming a mother, I founded Parent's Intuition Nutrition , a coaching series to help parents create a solid foundation of healthy eating for their children that will last a lifetime.

My practice is based in New York City. I am available for individual work in person or on the phone, group programs and corporate wellness events.
